DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
|
|

This announcement will be used to fill several
Programmer/Analyst vacancies.� Applicants will
only need to submit one application to be

Duties:���The
Programmer/Analyst is responsible for designing
and implementing infrastructure services in
support of multi-platform use of data and ERP
application development.� This includes
business�analysis, technical analysis and
design, programming, testing and
documentation.���This full-time position will
perform the following duties:
- Business
Analysis: Consultation
with users and analysis of business related
processes. Consults with�university
departments to understand business
requirements for streamlining operations,
systems development, and solution
implementation. Also consults with�university
departments to analyze/troubleshoot business
process problems.
- Systems
Analysis and Design: Evaluate problems
or needs as they arise. Discuss alternative
solutions with Team Leader or supervisor, and
design solutions. These solutions incorporate
researching and understanding the software
environment as well as current industry
conventions and standards. Build functional
specifications based on this analysis. Then,
using knowledge of data models, process models
and existing environments, create new
processes or modify existing processes, file
structures, access methods, input procedures,
output files, reports, and interfaces.
Determine and document security and control
needs. Write programming specifications,
control documents and any input, output or
processing handling documents.
- Program
Development: Develop program
code following specifications and appropriate
industry standards using Oracle PL/SQL, Java,
C, Oracle Forms, Oracle Reports, Groovy and
Grails, Ajax, JDBC, html, jsp, xml and web
Services software and programming languages.
- Testing: Develop test data that will
appropriately exercise the program code and
validate the functionality called for in the
specifications.
- Documentation: Working with
other Programmer/Analysts, document common
processes for common problem resolution and
submit them to the Help Desk Knowledge-base.
Document new procedures.
- Other Duties: This position
will perform other duties as�assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, SUBSTITUTIONS AND
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Minimum Requirements:� Graduation from an
accredited college or university with a
bachelor's degree in computer science, computer
information systems, computer networking or
related field AND�two years professional
experience in application development, analysis,
design, programming, implementation,�and/or
ongoing support of applications.�Part-time
experience will be prorated.�(You must submit
a copy of your unofficial transcripts with
your application to receive credit for the
bachelor�s degree).�
�
Substitution:�� A
combination of work experience in the
occupational field or specialized subject area
of the work assigned to the job which provided
the same kind, amount, and level of knowledge
acquired in the required education, may be
substituted on a year-for-year basis for the
bachelor's degree but not for the�two years
required professional experience (part-time
experience will be prorated).� A master's
or doctorate degree from an accredited college
or university in computer science, computer
information systems, computer networking or
related field may substitute for the bachelor's
degree and the one year professional experience.

Qualifications:�Please provide

- Previous
experience working in information technology
in higher education.�
- Knowledge of
Oracle SQL Plus,�PL/SQL, Java, Groovy, and/or
Ruby.
- Previous
experience programming in the Ellucian
Banner�application systems or other closely
related Oracle systems.��
- Technical
experience working with Cognos BI or other
business intelligence tools.
- Demonstrated
experience conducting detailed requirement
analysis,�developing specifications, and
determining implementation.�
- Previous
experience writing detailed system design
documentation.�
- Demonstrated
proficiency working with multiple platforms
and�using multiple languages and tools.�
- Understanding of
database design principles and data modeling.
- Previous
experience with package system upgrades.�
- Previous
experience working in a position that required
a high degree of customer service skills
including the ability to establish cooperative
relationships in a work setting.
- Previous
experience working in a team environment that
required�working collaboratively with other
departments evaluating various options and
collaborating with other IT units to reach
constructive solutions to IT problems and
issues.
- Previous
experience in an environment that required
creativity, analysis, problem identification,
trouble shooting, and initiative.
- Ability to be
a�self starter/self motivated.
- Excellent
organizational skills with the ability to
manage multiple projects simultaneously,
provide regular updates including estimated
dates�for final completion, and finish tasks
in a timely manner.��
