| Tom Green - Secretary/Director of Scholarship/Education | |
|
Tom has been an Oracle DBA with the Department of Defense for 8 years. Their system includes 6 clustered databases. Over the years some of his duties have been to create and run scripts against the database, to partition tables, upgrade indexes, and remove test data from tables. He knows how to recover a database using the control file. He is very familiar with the uses of RMAN. He continually inspect redo logs to keep from losing critical data. In this way he keeps the database up and running at top performance. This allows his customers access to the information they need without maintenance delays and unscheduled downtime. He has been a member of RMOUG since 2003, a Board member since 2010, and an RMOUG Training Days speaker contributor in 2009. Tom remembers 10 years ago when he attended his first Oracle Training Days, he met Stan Yellott, and Stan's love for Oracle rubbed off on Tom. Stan did not care what Tom knew, but he was just happy Tom was there and he wanted to share with Tom his wonderful Oracle world. Tom now feels that he has learned enough about Oracle to want to help continue Stan's work. For the last 7 years Tom has volunteered as room monitor at RMOUG Training Days. This was a good way to help people feel welcome to the Oracle fellowship. He is an objective thinker and a problem solver. He believes these skills will continue to make a valuable contribution to RMOUG. |

| Ron Bich - Director of IS | |
Ron's IT career began in 1990 within the IBM mainframe world, looking back he finds it amazing to see how the world as evolved with an ever increasing presence of technology. After getting initiated into Oracle at his job in 1995, he was provided with incentive to become involved with RMOUG in various volunteer roles of which many of those roles have been on the Board of Directors. His early involvement put me in direct contact with two very talented individuals, Doug Faughnan and Stan Yellott. Their support for this organization went beyond their knowledge about Oracle and in that same spirit Ron's support has contributed improvements beyond his Oracle knowledge. This has been Ron's way of paying tribute to both of those individuals, by supporting RMOUG in improving membership benefits beyond his Oracle knowledge! |
