Gustavo René Antúnez

Campaign Statement

Hello RMOUG board, my name is Gustavo René Antúnez and I more than excited to be running for election as a board of director for RMOUG. I have been helping the group in the Abstract Selection Committee for the past four years, I have also been a presenter at RMOUG Training Days 2015,2016 and I ran there the DB12c SIG meeting and helped with the RMOUG ACE lunch at Training Days 2015,2016 and 2017.

I have helped the ORAMEX (Oracle Mexico User Group) with their exponential growth in the past four years as a consultant to the ORAMEX president. They went from having only 2 meet ups and one event per year (OTN Tour), to now having a regular Quarterly meet up, having two monthly webinars and having 2 big events per year (OTN Tour and Developer Days). I have achieved this by being an active member in social media and networking events to help spread the work that they do, I have also been a member of IOUG Cloud SIG and Oracle RAC SIG helping them grow the SIG from a couple of members to currently having more than 100 signed up members and helping the SIG grow
their knowledge base.

Qualifications and Biography:

My current position is as an Oracle DBA at Pythian, and my company is able and committed to offer me great support to be involved in regional user groups and SIGs, and as an Oracle ACE, I’m able to help people see the value of RMOUG as a valuable regional user group during presentations and webinars.

I believe that my experience with other groups and SIGs allow me to bring a number of unique perspectives to the RMOUG Board. I also believe that the organization can contribute a great deal through continued leadership, and these leaders bring quality to the Colorado Region. I am committed to supporting that mission however I can at the local or the national level, and I hope you’ll consider me for Board membership in the coming year of 2017-2018. For any reference regarding my statement or previous User Group involvement you can contact Pot’Vin-Gorman.

David Fitzjarrell

Campaign Statement

My name is David Fitzjarrell and I would like to run for a seat on the Board of Directors of RMOUG. In the past I was Social Media Director for RMOUG (back in 2013) and I enjoyed the position immensely. I have a desire to contribute to both the Oracle community and the User’s Group to further knowledge and understanding of Oracle and to showcase opportunities to serve that community through group involvement.

Qualifications and Biography:

I have been an Oracle DBA for 28 years now, starting in 1989 with Oracle 6 and working with just about every release since then. I am a published author, having written the lion’s share of “Oracle Exadata Survival Guide” and writing two articles each month for www.databasejournal.com. I contribute regularly to the Oracle database forums and have earned the distinction of Oracle ACE. I am dedicated to sharing what I know and to learning what I don’t know on a daily basis. The User’s Group has been good to me and I want, again, to give back to the community and to the group.
I look forward to the opportunity to serve again on the Board of Directors.

Kellyn Pot’Vin-Gorman

Campaign Statement

As a current board member of RMOUG (Rocky Mountain Oracle Users Group), I have served as both the membership/social media director and have served as the Training Days Conference director for more than five years, including two years as an Oracle employee in a non-voting capacity. I have worked hard to direct RMOUG to a new website design to support social media and enhanced learning opportunities for our members. After years of successful Training Days conferences through budget cuts, reorganization and new opportunities, this year included valuable research that showed a difficult decision had to be made for a new venue and new management of our annual conference. I’ve worked with the committee through locating the succession and future of the event, along with providing valuable insight and data for the new management company as we transition.

After years of new opportunities introducing everything from crowd sourcing campaigns to increase attendee/Women in technology involvement and reached out to new speakers for member education it’s time for me to offer my expertise to other areas of the user group. I’m proud that my valuable networking has fostered an outreach to other technologies realizing that RMOUG is not just about Oracle, but also about a rich and diverse community.

I’ve always taken my responsibilities seriously and have fun doing it. I enjoy challenges and am quick to finding solutions to problems, offer ideas, and help out. I’ve involved myself in local meetups and also joined the regional SQL Server user group as their liaison to ensure that we are connected and known throughout the Denver community. I hope to continue my work as a board member for RMOUG and assist the new Training Days Director to ensure that she and the committee have everything they need under the position of Assistant to the Training Days Director and take a more pivotal role as the SIGS/Programs Director.

Qualifications and Biography:

Technical Intelligence Manager and Evangelist for the Office of CTO at Delphix, a company recognized for its impressive virtualization and data masking environment capabilities. Kellyn is known for her extensive work with virtualization, Enterprise Manager, shell and python scripting, environment optimization tuning, automation and cloud initiatives. Her blog, http://dbakevlar.com and social media activity under her handle, DBAKevlar is well respected for her insight and content. She is the lead author on a number of technical books, hosts webinars for numerous technical groups and has presented at numerous Oracle conferences, like Oracle Open World, HotSos, Collaborate and KSCOPE. She also speaks on SQL server at SQL Saturday events, along with other technologies, including, but not limited to- Agile, DevOps and Test Data Management in the US and Europe.

Art Marshall

Campaign Statement

Having been a volunteer at RMOUG Training Days and an RMOUG website volunteer technician and director, I am poised to take on additional responsibilities to assist with the planning and the direction of the group for the coming year. Being involved with RMOUG during the past several years has been a great knowledge gaining, rewarding experience for me, and I wish to contribute my efforts to the good and growth of the organization in return.

Qualifications and Biography:

I have worked in the IT industry since 1980, having used various database systems from then on, including my first exposure to Oracle in 1991. Versions that I have been involved with include 6, through 12. With this long-term involvement in IT, I have a strong commitment to continually expand my knowledge of important Oracle database technologies, and to facilitate the usage and sharing of that knowledge with others.

Nicole Navartil

Campaign Statement

I have to thank David Fitzjarrell for letting me know about RMOUG, and just in time to participate in Training Days 2017. Just to give you a little background of myself, I have not worked in IT for ten years for family reasons. When I decided to re-enter the industry, I had a lot to learn and turned to Twitter among other avenues to get advice. I sent out some tweets and David Fitzjarrell responded that he would be more than willing to answer any questions I had. He informed me about RMOUG, which I joined earlier this year, and then I got in contact with Tim Gorman and subsequently became an at-large member of the RMOUG Board.

I am excited to become more involved in the Oracle community through RMOUG, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, future conferences, and hopefully by contributing as a member of the RMOUG Board of Directors. From what I have gathered, RMOUG does amazing things and has the potential to do more, but that it faces many challenges. I would love to contribute to RMOUG with a fresh set of eyes. I have received such tremendous support from the Oracle community as I revive my career, and I would like to return the favor by helping RMOUG provide scholarships and with all the other great work they do, and by becoming a mentor myself.

Qualifications and Biography:

Ms Navratil began her career in IT unconventionally in 1997, by taking a job at Fidelity Investments as an administrative assistant who fell in love with automating her tasks with code. Soon she was promoted to Web Developer, and created a web application using ColdFusion and SQL Server. In her next position, working for a dot com, she experienced her first exposure with Oracle. In her ten year career, Ms Navratil switched back and forth between being a front-end and a back-end developer, using a variety of technologies including continuing with Oracle, SQL Server, and ColdFusion, and adding .NET. At her last position at Boston Scientific, she interfaced closely with the Oracle DBA team and her interest in making a career change to become an Oracle DBA developed.

After an unforeseen hiatus from the industry, Ms Navratil was able to go back to school and achieved her Master’s in Database Technologies from Regis University. She has subsequently achieved her OCA and is working to become an OCP, and she is looking forward to finding her first position as an Oracle DBA.

William Padfield

Campaign Statement

Hello, I am interested in becoming a full Board member for the Rocky Mountain Oracle Users Group (RMOUG). I campaign to adhere to the long-established high standards of the RMOUG Board, and also hope to help keep that high standard, as well as continue to help the organization align itself with the industry, both Oracle-related, and when appropriate, non-Oracle related, if it helps the organization thrive. During the last half of 2016, I was at ‘At-large’ Board member, to get my feet wet and get some experience in the normal activities of the organization, to help prepare to be a full-time Board member.

Qualifications and Biography:

I have 20 years’ experience as an Oracle DBA. I was a long-standing DBA at Century Link (formerly Qwest). My recent experience within the past year is a DBA with Beeline (formerly IQ Navigator). I have an abundance of experience with very large databases and data warehousing, and in my recent position, more experience with a transactional processing database environment. I also have had quite a bit of experience with the Exadata platform, and experience managing an Oracle RAC and Oracle Data Guard database environments. Within the last 10 years, I have functioned as a Senior Oracle DBA within my companies, and helped coordinate project and infrastructure database work within our respective database teams.

I have been affiliate faculty at Regis University for 12 years, facilitating database-related courses, such as Database Administration, Performance Tuning, Backup/Recovery, PL/SQL Programming, and SQL Concepts.

I co-authored two books published by Apress – Oracle 12c Performance Tuning Recipes, and Expert Oracle Indexing and Access Paths.

My goal is to contribute to the board and learn each month about the organization and how to increase the membership and also to help people and to both teach and learn as time goes. It is important to me to pass on the little I’ve learned in this vast industry and try to help the next generation of IT professionals enter and prosper in this field.

Please let me know if you would like more information or have any questions about my experience.

Apurva Panidhar

Campaign Statement

I have been a member of Rocky Mountain Oracle Users Group since 2015 and served on the board last year. I started my career as an Oracle Applications consultant helping clients with their ERP, SCM applications and workload automation. I am now focused on helping clients with their Cloud Strategy while also building our company’s PaaS/IaaS practice. This has forced me to step outside of my comfort zone of Oracle Applications and venture into other equally critical aspects of technologies, the entire stack so to speak. This is not only broadening my exposure but encouraging me to experiment with new technologies. As much as I am passionate about learning, I am also passionate about sharing knowledge. Being involved with RMOUG has exposed me to the versatility of this User group and what an incredible platform it truly is to not only place to share and learn expertise but to network with wonderful people in the industry. If elected, I intend on continuing to contribute to RMOUG’s educational mission and work on increasing its outreach.

Qualifications and Background:

Apurva is a certified workload automation consultant and has expertise in Oracle Applications (E-Business Suite and Fusion SaaS). Apurva holds an undergrad degree in Electronics and Communications engineering. Being an enthusiast of technology, she loves learning and getting involved with latest tech trends. She passionately helps her clients with their cloud strategy and loves playing the role of a Solutions Architect. Currently responsible for Business Development at 6e Technologies, Apurva also manages their Oracle partnership. She sits on the Board of RMOUG and is very active in the Oracle Applications and Cloud User Base communities. Apurva enjoys speaking at events like Oracle Open World, Collaborate and Training Days.

Bryan Wells

Campaign Statement

I am a customer driven IT professional with 17+ years experience spanning the roles of Database Administrator, Application DBA, developer, Build/Change Specialist, Database Engineer, Release Engineer, and System Administrator. I am versed in having to wear many other technology hats to contribute to the success of my team.

Qualifications and Biography:

I have supported Oracle through 11gR2 in various capacities including but not limited to: RAC, ASM, RMAN, SQL, PL/SQL, Data Guard, OEM, AWR and CRS. This experience also includes a solid working knowledge of Linux/Unix including shell scripting. I am a team player but also have the ability to work individually, learn new technologies quickly then collaborate, document, and disseminate knowledge among my team members.

I became a part of the RMOUG community around 2001. After experiencing my first Training Days I realized just how much I had to learn to become an Oracle professional. RMOUG has been a staple in my professional career, even when the job market has been down. Along with my role as an Affiliate Faculty member at Regis, I have begun to realize that I want to help the next generation of Oracle professionals. Although I promote RMOUG in my classes as much as possible, as well as volunteer for Training Days as a room ambassador, it has gnawed at me that I want to be more involved with RMOUG outside an At-Large seat or TD volunteer. Its time for me to step up and help move this awesome community forward, to give others the great benefits this group has given to me.

Thank you for your consideration.
